Built on the site of an Inca palace, later turned into an Augustinian Convent, and was also temporary home of the French Geodesic Mission (during 1742) whose scientific work determined the true shape of the earth, Hacienda San Agustin de Callo could not be more steeped in history. Purchased by a former President of Ecuador, this landmark has been fully restored and offers guests a unique look into the past. Guest rooms showcase vibrant colors and traditional art and furniture. The perfectly carved volcanic stone walls from the 15th century welcome guests to dinner, with authentic Andean cuisine prepared with ingredients fresh from the farm. Take time to trek by car up the side of the famous Cotopaxi volcano, go for a horseback ride on traditional Inca trails with a picnic or visit one of the many exciting native Indian markets.
