Originally a Victorian mansion, Hambleton Hall celebrated its 25th year as a hotel in 2005, and continues to attract acclaim for achieving near perfection. Artful blends of flowers from local hedgerows and London flower markets add splashes of colour to the bedrooms. The Croquet Pavilion a 2 bedroom suite with living and breakfast rooms is a luxurious additional option. In the Michelin-starred restaurant, chef Aaron Patterson and his team offer strongly seasonal menus - Grouse, Scottish ceps, chanterelles, partridge and woodcock all appear when they’re supposed to, accompanied by vegetables, herbs and salads from the Hall’s garden. If you’re feeling energetic you can embark on walks around the lake and there are opportunities for tennis, swimming, golf, cycling and sailing, otherwise you can browse for hidden treasures in Oakham’s antique shops.
