This French Renaissance-style château was built for Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the 19th century to display his outstanding collection of art treasures and to entertain the fashionable world. It has one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain featuring a parterre, seasonal displays, statuary and fountains. At its heart lies the Aviary stocked with species that were once part of the Baron’s collection. There are wine cellars, shops, two licensed restaurants, a woodland playground, a plant centre, and the Dairy (telephone 01296 653294) for weddings, corporate events and dinners.
