Description

Former home of the Earls of Mount Edgcumbe since 1547. Miraculously the walls of the red stone Tudor mansion survived a direct hit by bombs in 1941 and it was restored by the 6th Earl in 1958. Now beautifully furnished in 18th style with family possessions. Features include the shell seat, statues and summer houses in Earl's two acre Garden beside the House, Historic Buildings dating back to 1545, Formal Gardens incl. Italian, French, English, American and New Zealand sections. One of three Grade I listed gardens in Cornwall. 865 acres of Country Park overlooking Plymouth Sound. Programme of special exhibitions and events. Civil Wedding Licence.
