Description
Shrewsbury Castle and Shropshire Regimental Museum Built by the Norman Lord Roger de Montgomery and with a 13th century Great Hall, the castle commands the narrow gap in the loop of the River Severn which surrounds Shrewsbury. It was restored in the 18th centruy by Thomas Telford who also built the romantically named 'Laura's Tower'. The Great Hall now houses The Shropshire Regimental Museum and events are held in the attractive grounds throughout the summer. The Circular Room, designed by Telford , is licensed for civil marriages. Access is difficult to parts of the Castle.
