Description
An eighteenth century garden building with two distinct faces. On one side it is a small rustic cottage, with thatched roof and bark clad door while on the other side an elegant pavilion complete with umbrello (or stone canopy). In the 1740s, Charles Kemeys Tynte began to transform the landscape around Halswell House into one of the finest Georgian gardens in the south west. He built several follies including in 1767 Robin Hood’s Hut. Robin Hood’s Hut is cared for by The Landmark Trust, a building preservation charity who let it for holidays.
