Description
Borde Hill, created from 1893 by Stephenson Clarke sponsoring the Great Plant Hunters, is a botanically rich Grade II* Sussex garden. It has distinctive, living ‘rooms’ each with unique style; including the Azalea Ring, Rose and Italian Gardens. Early spring-flowering magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas, give way to exuberant borders of roses and herbaceous plants and the vivid blaze of autumnal colour. These plantings cover 200 acres of traditional woodland and parkland with the tallest and largest girth ‘champion’ trees on private land in Britain. Borde Hill features a programme of organised events, including specialist plant shows, car shows, garden tours, concerts and drama. The Garden and Tudor Mansion provide unusual and breathtaking scenery for wedding receptions, family celebrations and film locations.
