Description
The remains of the first century AD Roman Palace at Fishbourne were discovered in 1960. Here you can see Britain’s largest collection of in-situ Roman floor mosaics. More every-day Roman objects found from the excavations are displayed in the museum gallery and an audio-visual presentation explains the site. Outside, the garden has been replanted to its original plan, using plants that may have grown then. The Collections Discovery Centre displays artefacts from Fishbourne and Chichester district. Special events include a Celtic Spring weekend, Roman Army re-enactment in the autumn and Roman life activity days during half-term weeks and during August.
